Synopsis
"David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens is a coming-of-age novel that follows the titular character from childhood to adulthood. Born into a loving family, David's early years are marred by the death of his father and subsequent marriage of his mother to the harsh and abusive Mr. Murdstone. Sent away to a dreary boarding school, David befriends the whimsical and optimistic Tommy Traddles, as well as the charismatic but morally dubious James Steerforth.
After his mother's death, David is forced to work in Murdstone's factory, enduring hardship and poverty. He eventually escapes and seeks refuge with his eccentric yet kind-hearted great-aunt Betsey Trotwood. Under her guidance, David receives a proper education and begins to forge his own path. Along the way, he encounters a colorful cast of characters, including the ever-optimistic Mr. Micawber, the humble yet lovable Peggotty family, and the devious Uriah Heep.
As David matures, he navigates personal and professional challenges, ultimately finding success as a writer and fulfillment in his relationships. The novel explores themes of resilience, personal growth, and the enduring impact of kindness and love.
